One of my favourite cuisines is Chinese. Eating in or taking away I really don’t mind.
A particular favourite place of mine is the Lee Dynasty. It used to be call the Overseas but changed its name a while ago. If we’re having a take away we will often order from here as they deliver which makes a lazy evening even lazier. There’s plenty parking outside and being on the main road is easily accessible by bus.
When friends come to stay this is where we take them for Sunday lunch. They do a buffet but not in the normal style. There are no bowls of food sitting on warmer all day. Lee Dynasty have a special menu and your food is cooked to order. It’s a smaller menu than the regular one but there’s still plenty of choice. I always love the starters even more than the mains so this is perfect for me. Rather than ordering individual starters we order a selection for the table. This works out great as we say what we want and the chef gauges the amount for the number of guests.
If there’s something you particularly like you can order again. No 2 Child is rather partial to salt and pepper chicken wings so we have them with the starters and he usually orders more alongside the mains.
The mains come already plated, they are small in size which is fine as you’ve usually gone overboard with the starters anyway. This allows you to order a selection between the table, we usually share mains too and again helps prevent waste.
The atmosphere is very relaxed and the staff never rush you. They ask that you order sensibly so as not to waste food but there are no restrictions on how many times you can order so there’s no need to order greedily.
The other thing I really like about the Sunday menu is desert is included in the price and they make my favourite, pineapple fritters which you can have with ice cream if you like. Freshly made, hot, pineapple fritters with ice cream,
Sundays don’t come much better than that.
