I recently took No 1 Child for a bit of quality mum and daughter time to Lush Spa in Liverpool city centre for a ‘Tailor Made’ treatment.
Its recommended that you arrive about 10 minutes before your booked time but in our enthusiasm, we arrived a bit too early. This didn’t faze the staff and instead of having us stand around the shop making it look untidy we were treated to a complementary hand massage whilst we waited, which was a lovely bonus.
Treatments take place upstairs and the room gave me the impression of a farmhouse/French country kitchen, we sat at the long refractory table whilst the girls talked us through the process and let us choose some of the products they would be using. The treatments are said to be holistic treating all the senses.
We could have the treatments in separate rooms or, new to me in the same room. Neither of us are shy we decided to go in together. The girls who looked after us were just fabulous. Friendly but not at all patronising, it was very informal yet professional which put us at our ease and you’re about to present yourself half naked to a complete stranger it does help to feel comfortable with them.
Each treatment has specially selected music to accompany it for us it was sea shanties which made me smile. We decided we didn’t want a relaxing, put you to sleep kind of treatment but an invigorating, get up and go one and the music certainly helped.
The treatment rooms are beautifully designed, not at all clinical, so the laid back, calm atmosphere is maintained. The girls create a little special effect which is unique and there’s no problem with taking photographs.
The girls really knew their stuff, they’d explained about the possibility of some discomfort if they found an area that needed particular work and boy did she find an area. She worked the knot in my shoulder and whilst it was a bit hard going it felt wonderful when she’d finished. I hadn’t realised how tense my shoulders had been.
When they’d finished they left us laying covered on the treatment beds for a long as we wanted. When we finally dragged ourselves off the beds and returned to the kitchen area we were given tea and biscuits which was a lovely touch.
Overall, I would say we were there about an hour and the girls worked extremely hard but made it look effortless.
The treatments at Lush aren’t the cheapest treatments you can get, ours was the cheapest in their range. Their claim that the treatment is for all your senses works, the smells and sounds, the beautiful surroundings as well as the massage are just wonderful. We will be trying a different treatment on our next visit, we started with the cheapest but I feel our journey with Lush has just begun.
Lush Spa also cater for groups such as birthday or hen parties.
